Dick:  Christina, we need to have a talk
Xina:  About what?
Dick:  It doesn't seem like it's working out for you here....you don't seem happy
Xina: (look that implies, really? no shit, you're just now realizing this?)
Dick:  So how can we fix it?
Xina:  We can't. I hate this job, it can't be fixed.  I quit.
Dick:  Well you know, I'm usually a pretty good judge of character, and some people just can't handle it....maybe you'd do better someplace more structured.  Maybe a 9-5 job, until you get married and have kids.
Xina: (at this point it's all I can do not to just....slap him.  But my mother taught me not to burn my bridges so I just smile tensely and leave)

And that is how I quit my job.

halloween costume is complete

This is my halloween costume, Shotgun Betty.  She's a.....beer mascot.  I don't know what else to describe her character.  Shotgun Betty is a kind of beer, it's pretty good. And it's brewed here in Raleigh.

And I really really like Shotgun Betty.

Already Dead

I joined Dennis's book club.  But I read the book weeks ago and have since read 3 more books, so how am I supposed to discuss it?  I don't even remember what it was called.

Most recently I finished Already Dead, which reminded me of my other vampire series, only from a guy's perspective.  So it leaves out all the emotional drama that apparently is synonymous with women.  But I did enjoy the book, and I will continue the series.  I like books.  And I like vampires.

4/5 of my halloween costume is complete.

I impulsively bought a dress a few weeks ago and haven't worn it yet until today.  The dress was on sale, and looking at it I assumed it would fit just fine figured I could forgo trying it on.  The dress has been hanging in my closet for awhile until today I realized that it's warm enough again to wear a dress and decided to go with the new one.  However, once I began to try and put it on I realized perhaps why it was indeed so cheap.  Around the ribs is a sort of "belt" part of the dress...which does not stretch AT ALL.  And there are no zippers or buttons or anything to open it up.  I couldn't get the dress above my hips and when I attempted to put it over my shoulders I ended up trapped with one arm halfway into the sleeve and the whole thing kinda twisted and stuck around my neck/shoulders.  I could hardly move and it took awhile before I was able to contort my arms this thing over my shoulders. Once the dress was on and in place it fit fine.  it doesn't feel unnecessarily small or tight.  I've been wearing it all day  and now it's 12:30 and I have no idea how I'm going to get it off. I might end up cutting it.

Moral of the story?  Never buy clothes without trying them on.  Especially if they're on sale.

livin' on a prayer

In Sweden, gaol = jail.  Did you know that?  I didn't until the Swedish man in my book had to go to gaol.

Also, they call him Kalle Blomkvist....but what does Kalle mean? Because I don't understand the significance of the nickname, and undoubtedly there's a point to it.  Blomkvist is his name.  Yeah! Try saying that out loud!  Last time I try to read a book that takes place in Sweden....

Of all the spectrum of hair colors I've experienced, this dark brown I've recently discovered is my favorite.  Inside I am a brunette and I was just needing my outside appearance to reflect that.  And combined with the short/curly/bangs haircut and my cupcake apron, I look straight out of a 1950s magazine.

That's what I'll be for halloween maybe?

I got a phone number at work this afternoon from a guy named Andreq....like, On-dreek....

How does one politely turn down a date? I never know what to say so I just agree and get myself in awkward situations down the road.
